• Commit to working for the hospital for three years
• Meet the hospital’s employment and onboarding requirements

Registered Nurse is an eligible USMCA profession. Canadian citizens with a prearranged professional position may apply for TN status; Canadian permanent residents who are not citizens cannot.

Do Canadian-Educated Nurses Need a CES Report for Maine?

If you completed your Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Canada, you do not need a CES credential evaluation for Maine RN licensing. Instead, you will generally arrange for your Canadian nursing school to send your official transcript directly to the Maine State Board of Nursing.

What If You Completed Nursing School Outside Canada?

Canadian citizens who completed their nursing education outside Canada must obtain a TruMerit CES Professional Report for Maine licensing. For these applicants:

• The evaluation must be a CES Professional Report
• It must be completed through TruMerit, formerly known as CGFNS International
• The report must be sent directly to the Maine State Board of Nursing
• Maine does not accept IEE or Josef Silny educational evaluation reports as substitutes for the required TruMerit report

Maine’s instructions exclude applicants educated in Canada from the CES requirement and identify the TruMerit CES Professional Report for applicants educated elsewhere. Review Maine’s foreign-educated nursing requirements.
