IntelliStaff Medical is seeking a Registered Nurse – Surgical Prep and Recovery (Pre-Op / PACU RN) for a full-time permanent position in Ontario, Oregon. This opportunity includes TN visa assistance for qualified Canadian and Mexican RNs, along with U.S. state licensing support for North American nurses.

Position Summary – RN Pre-Op / PACU

The Surgical Prep and Recovery RN provides professional nursing care for patients undergoing surgical and procedural interventions. Responsibilities include comprehensive pre-operative assessments, post-anesthesia recovery monitoring, pain management, patient education, and coordination of care across the perioperative continuum.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Qualifications of the Surgical Prep and Recovery RN

  • Current RN license required prior to start date
  • Must practice in accordance with Oregon State Board of Nursing regulations
  • Multistate RNs must comply with applicable state board requirements upon hire
  • NCLEX-RN required for Canadian and Mexican RNs
  • American Heart Association BLS certification required at hire
  • ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire
  • Minimum one year of RN experience preferred; perioperative, PACU, or surgical nursing experience strongly valued

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments for surgical patients
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including verification, documentation, and education
  • Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, monitoring airway, vital signs, and neurological status
  • Administer and evaluate effectiveness of medications and pain management interventions
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care
  • Communicate patient status clearly with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation and revenue-related documentation
  • Advocate for patient safety, rights, and comfort throughout the perioperative process
  • Demonstrate safe operation of monitoring and recovery equipment

New graduate nurses are hired as Level I with the expectation of advancement after successful completion of competency milestones. Experienced RNs enter at Level II, with opportunities to progress through a Professional Development Ladder based on performance, education, and specialty competencies.
