New York Medical-Surgical Stroke Registered Nurse (RN)

IntelliStaff Medical is recruiting experienced internationally educated Registered Nurses for full-time Medical-Surgical Stroke opportunities in Rochester, New York. Applicants must be Canadian or Mexican citizens eligible for TN visa status and interested in establishing a long-term nursing career in the United States.

Position Overview

• Starting pay: $38.67 USD per hour
• Experience credit: Experienced nurses may be considered toward the higher end of the applicable pay range based on years and relevance of nursing experience
• Weekend Program: Participants receive an additional $7.00 USD per hour
• Hours: Full-time
• Shifts: Days, evenings and nights available
• Weekends and holidays: Rotating requirements
• Sign-on bonus: $5,000 USD
• Temporary housing: Up to 30 days
• Employment type: Full-time, direct hire with the hospital

Immigration & Green Card Pathway

Canadian and Mexican Registered Nurses may initially work in the United States under TN visa status.

After completing one year of successful employment and good standing, eligible nurses may begin the hospital's employment-based Green Card pathway, subject to employer approval, individual immigration eligibility and applicable U.S. immigration requirements.

Medical-Surgical Stroke Nursing

Medical-Surgical Stroke Registered Nurses care for adult patients recovering from stroke, transient ischemic attacks and other neurological conditions. Nurses complete focused neurological assessments, monitor for changes and support patients through treatment, rehabilitation and discharge planning.

This opportunity is well suited to nurses who enjoy detailed assessments, interdisciplinary care and helping patients regain function and independence after a neurological event.

Responsibilities

• Complete initial and ongoing medical and neurological assessments
• Perform neurological checks and recognize changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, treatments and prescribed interventions
• Monitor mobility, swallowing, communication and fall risk
• Implement aspiration, seizure and pressure-injury precautions when required
• Develop and update individualized plans of care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Educate patients and families about medications, stroke recovery and prevention
• Coordinate rehabilitation and discharge-planning needs
• Maintain accurate electronic clinical documentation

Minimum Requirements

• Canadian or Mexican citizenship; required for TN visa eligibility
• Nursing diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing, BScN, BSN or equivalent
• Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN
• New York RN licence or demonstrated readiness to complete the licensing process
• Minimum one year of recent acute-care Medical-Surgical, stroke, neurological or telemetry nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support certification
• Strong English communication and clinical documentation skills
• Ability to meet VisaScreen and TN visa requirements
• Interest in establishing a long-term career with the hospital

Experience completing neurological assessments and caring for patients following stroke is strongly preferred. Stroke-related certification or continuing education is considered an asset.
