This direct-hire hospital position includes TN visa assistance for qualified Canadian and Mexican Registered Nurses, Idaho RN licensing assistance and potential sign-on and relocation incentives.

About the Cardiovascular ICU

The 10-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit provides advanced nursing care to patients experiencing complex cardiovascular conditions and recovering from major cardiac and vascular procedures.

The unit combines structured post-surgical care pathways with the clinical autonomy required to manage critically ill cardiovascular patients.

Patients may include individuals recovering from:

• Coronary artery bypass grafting
• Heart valve repair or replacement
• Aortic surgery

Registered Nurses work with cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists, anesthesia professionals, pharmacists, respiratory therapists and other members of the critical-care team.

Qualifications of a CVICU Registered Nurse

• Active Idaho or multistate Registered Nurse licence or eligibility for state licensing assistance
• Registered Nurses practising under a multistate licence must establish Idaho residency within the required timeframe
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• NCLEX-RN successfully completed
• Recent cardiovascular ICU, intensive care, cardiac or critical-care nursing experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support certification required at the time of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required within six months of hire
• Critical Care Registered Nurse certification is an asset
• Cardiac Surgery Subspecialty Certification is an asset
• Canadian or Mexican citizenship required for candidates seeking TN visa assistance
• Strong cardiovascular assessment and cardiac rhythm-interpretation skills

Responsibilities of a CVICU Registered Nurse

• Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients
• Care for patients recovering from major cardiac and vascular procedures
• Complete and document comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments
• Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms and haemodynamic status
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate emergency interventions
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized critical-care plans
• Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, blood products and high-alert treatments
• Manage and monitor vasoactive, antiarrhythmic, sedative and other critical-care medications
• Care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support
• Monitor invasive lines, drains, chest tubes and cardiovascular equipment
• Assist with intubation, central-line placement and other bedside procedures
• Assess surgical sites and monitor for bleeding, infection and postoperative complications
• Respond to cardiac arrests, rapid-response events and other clinical emergencies
• Participate in multidisciplinary critical-care rounds
• Collaborate with cardiovascular surgeons, intensivists and other clinical professionals
• Provide patient and family education throughout treatment and recovery
• Offer emotional support to patients and families during medical crises
• Coordinate transfers to cardiac step-down, rehabilitation or other levels of care
• Maintain complete and accurate electronic health records
• Follow hospital safety policies, evidence-based protocols and professional nursing standards
• Practise according to the requirements of the Idaho Board of Nursing
