Full-Time Permanent Position

A client hospital of IntelliStaff Medical is hiring a Registered Nurse for a full-time, permanent position on a combined Orthopedic and Medical-Surgical unit in Ontario, Oregon.

This opportunity includes TN visa assistance for qualified Canadian and Mexican Registered Nurses, along with Oregon licensing assistance for North American nurses.

You will work as a direct employee of the client hospital and receive the compensation, benefits and professional opportunities that come with permanent hospital employment.

Qualifications of an Orthopedic Medical-Surgical RN

  • Active Oregon Registered Nurse licence or eligibility for state licensing assistance
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • NCLEX-RN successfully completed
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at the time of hire
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification may be accepted in place of Basic Life Support
  • Recent acute-care, medical-surgical or orthopedic nursing experience preferred
  • Canadian or Mexican citizenship required for candidates seeking TN visa assistance
  • Strong clinical assessment, organization and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to care for patients with varied medical, surgical and orthopedic needs
  • Strong communication, teamwork and patient-education skills

Responsibilities and Duties of an Orthopedic Medical-Surgical RN

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients with medical, surgical and orthopedic conditions
  • Complete comprehensive physical and psychosocial patient assessments
  • Develop, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Monitor patient conditions and recognize significant clinical changes
  • Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies and treatments
  • Evaluate patient responses to medications and clinical interventions
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative nursing care
  • Care for patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, fractures and musculoskeletal conditions
  • Provide wound care and monitor surgical incisions
  • Support pain management, mobility and fall-prevention plans
  • Assist patients with safe transfers, ambulation and activities of daily living
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation professionals and other clinical team members
  • Delegate appropriate patient-care activities to qualified support personnel
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications and recovery plans
  • Promote patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual well-being
  • Serve as a patient advocate throughout the hospital stay
  • Coordinate discharge planning and transitions to rehabilitation or home care
  • Maintain complete and accurate electronic health records
  • Use hospital resources, equipment and supplies responsibly
  • Follow hospital safety policies, infection-prevention practices and professional nursing standards
  • Practise according to the rules and regulations of the Oregon State Board of Nursing

The unit provides inpatient care to patients with a broad range of medical, surgical and orthopedic needs. Registered Nurses develop a diverse acute-care skill set while supporting patients throughout treatment, surgery and recovery.
