Top 5 Reasons to Live and Work in South Carolina
- A More Affordable Cost of Living
Your income may go further in South Carolina than in many major Canadian cities. Housing, property taxes and everyday expenses can be more manageable, depending on the community and your lifestyle. This can make it easier to find a larger home, build savings or simply enjoy life without treating every grocery receipt like a minor emergency.
- Mild Winters and Plenty of Warm Weather
South Carolina has short, generally mild winters and a long warm-weather season. Residents can spend more time outdoors throughout the year, with far less shovelling, scraping and negotiating with a frozen windshield. Summers are hot and humid, but air conditioning is practically a local institution.
- Beaches, Lakes, Parks and Outdoor Recreation
South Carolina offers easy access to Atlantic beaches, freshwater lakes, rivers, forests, walking trails and state parks. Depending on where you live, weekends can include boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking, golfing, camping or visiting coastal communities. It is a strong fit for anyone who prefers spending time outdoors instead of waiting for patio season to last longer than six weeks.
- Long-Term Healthcare Career Opportunities
South Carolina’s growing and ageing population continues to create demand for qualified healthcare professionals. Registered Dietitians can build experience in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, chronic disease management, rehabilitation, long-term care and community health. U.S. experience may also create opportunities for future leadership, specialization and professional growth.
- Convenient Travel Throughout the Southeastern United States
South Carolina provides convenient access to destinations across the southeastern United States. Residents can plan weekend trips to beaches, mountain communities and larger metropolitan areas throughout the Carolinas and Georgia. Regional airports and major highways also make it easier to travel elsewhere in the United States or return to Canada to visit family and friends.
