Position Overview

IntelliStaff Medical is seeking Behavioral Health Registered Nurses (RNs), Psychiatric Registered Nurses, and Mental Health Nurses for full-time direct-hire opportunities with a U.S. hospital in Southeast Texas. This inpatient Behavioral Health RN position offers the opportunity to care for adults experiencing acute psychiatric and mental health conditions while working collaboratively with psychiatrists, physicians, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.

Compensation

Base Rate:
$35.00 – $40.00 USD/hour

Qualifications of Behavioral Health RN

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Canadian or Mexican citizenship required for TN visa eligibility
• Active Texas RN license or eligibility for Texas licensure
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• NCLEX required
• VisaScreen completed or in process preferred
• Minimum two years of recent nursing experience in a large Canadian or U.S. acute care hospital required
• Recent experience in Behavioral Health, Mental Health, Psychiatric Nursing, or Crisis Stabilization preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Unit-specific competencies completed within six months of hire

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients receiving inpatient psychiatric and behavioral health treatment
• Perform comprehensive mental health and physical nursing assessments
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans
• Monitor patients experiencing psychiatric, emotional, and behavioral health conditions
• Administer psychiatric medications, IV medications, and other prescribed treatments while monitoring therapeutic response and adverse effects
• Perform suicide risk assessments and maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Utilize therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques
• Lead and participate in therapeutic group sessions as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, therapists, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Delegate patient care activities appropriately while promoting patient and staff safety
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, coping strategies, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and regulatory requirements
• Advocate for patient rights while promoting recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care
