IntelliStaff Medical is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a full-time permanent Home Health position. This opportunity includes licensing and immigration assistance for qualified Canadian healthcare professionals interested in building a rewarding career in the United States.

With this Occupational Therapist position, you will work as a direct employee of the healthcare organization and receive all the benefits that entails.

Qualifications of an Occupational Therapist

  • Active Occupational Therapist license in the applicable state or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum six months of experience in home health, rehabilitation, acute care, or another healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance.
  • Ability to work independently while managing a mobile patient caseload.

Additional Requirements for Canadian Applicants

  • Canadian citizenship required.
  • English language proficiency required.
  • NBCOT certification required.
  • Credential evaluation completed through an approved agency if required by the state licensing board.
  • Valid VisaScreen certificate required for TN visa eligibility.

Responsibilities and Duties of an Occupational Therapist

  • Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with physician orders and individualized patient care plans.
  • Evaluate patients in their home environment and develop treatment plans designed to improve independence, safety, and quality of life.
  • Assess physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and environmental factors affecting patient function.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living, mobility, strength, coordination, and adaptive functioning.
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and family members regarding treatment plans, home modifications, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation including evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and Home Health Aides as appropriate.
  • Coordinate community resources and referrals to support patient needs.
  • Travel to patient homes and provide care across a designated service area.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and home health regulations.
