Top 5 Reasons Healthcare Professionals Would Want to Live and Work in Tennessee:

  1. No state income tax on earned income. Tennessee does not tax wages, which means nurses can keep more of their hard-earned income. Your paycheque may still have feelings, but at least state income tax is not one of them.
  2. Lower housing costs compared to many major U.S. markets. According to U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts, Tennessee’s median owner-occupied home value was $286,700 and median gross rent was $1,189 for 2020 to 2024.
  3. Strong healthcare industry. Tennessee reported more than $67.5 billion in healthcare and social assistance revenue in 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which makes healthcare a major part of the state economy.
  4. Beautiful outdoor lifestyle. Tennessee is known for state parks, hiking trails, lakes, waterfalls, and mountain scenery. Translation: your days off do not have to involve only laundry and recovery snacks.
  5. Nashville offers city energy without losing its Southern charm. Healthcare professionals can enjoy live music, restaurants, professional sports, international travel options, and a growing metro area while working in a major healthcare hub.
