This hospital Resource Float position offers a varied clinical environment where you will provide professional nursing care across multiple inpatient and outpatient departments.

Qualifications of a Resource Float RN

• Active Oregon Registered Nurse licence required before starting employment
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly preferred
• NCLEX-RN successfully completed
• Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or Military Training Network
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required within six months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required within six months of hire
• Recent acute-care nursing experience preferred
• Previous float pool, medical-surgical, emergency, clinic or case-management experience is an asset
• Canadian or Mexican citizenship required for candidates seeking TN visa assistance
• Strong clinical judgment, delegation and medication-administration skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to different departments and patient populations

Responsibilities of a Resource Float RN

• Provide professional nursing care across designated hospital and outpatient departments
• Support urgent staffing needs throughout the facility, excluding PACU and Labor and Delivery
• Complete and document comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies and treatments
• Evaluate patient responses to medications and clinical interventions
• Monitor patient conditions and promptly communicate significant changes
• Demonstrate age-appropriate nursing competencies for assigned patient populations
• Support case management, care coordination and discharge planning
• Collaborate with physician clinics using a patient-centred medical home model
• Support disease prevention and chronic-condition management
• Educate patients and families according to assessed needs
• Promote patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual well-being
• Advocate for patient rights and safe, high-quality care
• Provide nursing interventions to reduce pain and promote comfort
• Communicate patient status and care plans verbally and in writing
• Delegate appropriate responsibilities to qualified members of the care team
• Maintain accurate documentation of nursing services and supplies
• Operate patient-care equipment safely and competently
• Maintain therapeutic and professional boundaries
