Full-Time Permanent Position

A client hospital of IntelliStaff Medical is hiring an Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse for a full-time, permanent position in Ontario, Oregon.

This opportunity includes TN visa assistance for qualified Canadian and Mexican Registered Nurses, along with Oregon licensing assistance for North American nurses.

Qualifications of an Intensive Care Unit RN

• Active Oregon Registered Nurse licence or eligibility for state licensing assistance
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• NCLEX-RN successfully completed
• Recent Intensive Care Unit, critical care or progressive care nursing experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at the time of hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required within six months of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required within six months of hire
• Canadian or Mexican citizenship required for candidates seeking TN visa assistance
• Strong critical-care assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, vasoactive medications and ventilator-supported patients is an asset
• Strong communication, documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Responsibilities and Duties of an Intensive Care Unit RN

• Provide professional nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients
• Complete comprehensive physical and psychosocial patient assessments
• Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms and neurological status
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate emergency interventions
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized critical-care plans
• Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, blood products and critical-care treatments
• Manage and monitor vasoactive, sedative and other high-alert medications
• Care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support
• Monitor invasive lines, drains and other critical-care equipment
• Assist physicians with intubation, central-line placement and other bedside procedures
• Respond to cardiac arrests, rapid-response events and other clinical emergencies
• Provide nursing interventions to reduce pain and promote patient comfort
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and other clinical professionals
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate patient-care priorities
• Educate patients and families according to assessed needs
• Provide emotional support to patients and families during medical crises
• Coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when required
• Document patient assessments, treatments, supplies and clinical outcomes accurately
• Delegate appropriate responsibilities to qualified members of the care team
• Operate patient-care and critical-care equipment safely
• Maintain therapeutic and professional boundaries
• Use hospital resources and supplies responsibly
• Follow hospital safety policies, evidence-based protocols and professional nursing standards
• Practise according to the rules and regulations of the Oregon State Board of Nursing

The Intensive Care Unit provides advanced nursing care to patients experiencing serious, unstable and potentially life-threatening medical conditions.

ICU Registered Nurses work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and other clinical professionals to stabilize patients and support positive outcomes.

Clinical responsibilities may include:

• Advanced patient assessment and continuous monitoring
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Mechanical ventilation and respiratory support
• Management of vasoactive and high-alert medications
• Care of invasive lines, drains and monitoring equipment
• Emergency stabilization and resuscitation
• Management of sepsis and other complex medical conditions
