IntelliStaff Medical is seeking Medical/Surgical Registered Nurses for full-time permanent positions in Southeast Texas. This position includes TN visa assistance for qualified Canadian and Mexican RNs as well as licensing support for North American nurses.

With this Medical/Surgical RN position, you will work as a direct employee of the hospital and receive a comprehensive benefits package while joining a mission-driven team focused on compassionate, patient-centred care and clinical excellence.

Qualifications of a Medical/Surgical RN

  • Active RN license in the State of Texas; licensing assistance is available
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
  • NCLEX-RN required for Canadian and Mexican RNs
  • BLS certification required
  • Unit-specific competencies completed within 6 months of hire
  • No experience required; recent Medical/Surgical RN experience is an asset
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States under TN visa requirements for Canadian and Mexican citizens

Responsibilities and Duties of a Medical/Surgical RN

  • Provide professional nursing care using assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care in accordance with state, hospital, and accreditation standards
  • Utilize infection prevention practices, universal precautions, asepsis, and infection control procedures
  • Monitor patients’ conditions and operate equipment used to assess and regulate patient status
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while understanding indications, contraindications, and patient responses
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families
  • Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel in accordance with the Texas Nurse Practice Act
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and unit activity records in accordance with hospital standards
  • Clarify orders or treatment plans when there may be concerns about accuracy, effectiveness, or contraindications
  • Implement nursing interventions to stabilize patients and prevent complications
  • Support a safe, compassionate care environment for patients of all age groups admitted to the unit
