A client hospital of IntelliStaff Medical is hiring experienced Emergency and Trauma Registered Nurses for full-time, permanent positions in Boise, Idaho.

This direct-hire hospital position includes TN visa assistance for qualified Canadian and Mexican Registered Nurses, Idaho and Oregon RN licensing assistance and potential sign-on and relocation incentives.

The Emergency and Trauma RN will assess, prioritize and treat patients experiencing medical emergencies, critical illnesses and traumatic injuries. Registered Nurses work with emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and other clinical professionals in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center.

About the Emergency and Trauma RN Position

Emergency and Trauma Registered Nurses care for patients of all ages experiencing urgent, emergent and potentially life-threatening conditions.

Registered Nurses practise with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with emergency physicians, trauma specialists and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

The Emergency Department uses advanced treatment protocols and provides a continuum of care that includes emergency transport, rapid assessment, trauma stabilization, specialty surgery, critical care and rehabilitation.

Qualified Registered Nurses may also have opportunities to work at a nearby freestanding Emergency Department within the Boise metropolitan area.

Qualifications of an Emergency and Trauma RN

• Active Idaho or multistate Registered Nurse licence required before starting employment
• Registered Nurses practising under a multistate licence must establish Idaho residency within 60 days of hire
• Oregon Registered Nurse licence or proof of application required within 90 days of hire
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• NCLEX-RN successfully completed
• One or more years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
• Experience caring for critical and high-acuity patients preferred
• Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or Military Training Network required at the time of hire
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification preferred or required according to department policy
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification preferred or required according to department policy
• Trauma Nursing Core Course certification is an asset
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification is an asset
• Certified Emergency Nurse designation is an asset
• Additional unit-specific certifications may be required
• Canadian or Mexican citizenship required for candidates seeking TN visa assistance
• Strong emergency assessment, triage and critical-thinking skills

Responsibilities of an Emergency and Trauma RN

• Provide emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
• Complete rapid physical and psychosocial patient assessments
• Triage patients according to clinical condition and acuity
• Recognize life-threatening conditions and initiate emergency interventions
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
• Provide care to patients experiencing medical, cardiac, neurological and traumatic emergencies
• Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, blood products and emergency treatments
• Assist with resuscitation, intubation and other emergency procedures
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms and changes in patient condition
• Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing and emergency surgery
• Provide trauma stabilization and support ongoing trauma-team care
• Collaborate with emergency physicians, trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons and orthopedic specialists
• Coordinate transfers to intensive care, surgery, inpatient units or other facilities
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge instructions
• Provide emotional support during stressful and traumatic medical events
• Maintain complete and accurate electronic health records
• Follow hospital safety policies, trauma protocols and professional nursing standards
• Practise according to the requirements of the applicable state boards of nursing
