Position Overview
IntelliStaff Medical is seeking Stepdown Unit Registered Nurses (RNs) for full-time opportunities with a U.S. hospital in the Kansas City region. In this role, you will care for patients recovering from cardiac events, surgeries, and critical illness, providing an intermediate level of care between ICU and Medical/Surgical units.
This opportunity is open to Canadian and Mexican citizens eligible for the TN visa.
Green card and permanent residency sponsorship is available for qualified candidates after 3 months of employment.
Compensation
- Competitive hourly rates based on experience
- Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus available (details discussed during interview)

Qualifications of Stepdown RN
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- Canadian or Mexican citizenship (TN visa eligibility required)
- Active RN license (or eligibility) in the State of Kansas
- NCLEX required
- BLS required upon hire
- ACLS required within 30 days of hire
- Previous acute care experience preferred
- Experience with telemetry or cardiac patients considered an asset
Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitor patients recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, and critical illness
- Continuously assess cardiac status, telemetry data, and vital signs
- Administer medications including IV therapies and cardiac-specific treatments
- Perform detailed patient assessments and evaluate response to treatment
- Recognize and respond quickly to cardiac emergencies such as arrhythmias or respiratory distress
- Assist with life-saving interventions including CPR and defibrillation when required
- Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital standards
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and patient safety standards
